[Don't Starve] on Android/iOS

Recommended Posts

Why wouldn't Klei Entertainment create a Don't Starve for Android or iOS? There are lots of players who would buy it for these platforms, for example: playing when their computer is broken or something. I strongly believe that it would be a succes if so...

Well, that's impossible. Games like Gangstar Vegas, Modern Combat 4 and others do work and Don't Starve wouldn't?

Because games like that were made for mobile phones, Don't Starve was created with PC gaming in mind, look at minecraft, the pocket edition barely has anything the PC and Console versions do.

Minecraft PE is getting an update (0-9-0) on July 10th 2014. This update will improve the whole game because it'll be like the pc version. It will have infinite worlds and many other things. I believe if this is possible for the Minecraft PE game, it's possible for Don't Starve. I would personally die for the IOS version!

If you don't believe me, here's the link to the announcement:Ā https://mojang.com/2014/07/minecraft-pocket-edition-0-9-0-coming-july-10th/

Also, in the beginning it may be a stupid version of Don't Starve but it'll improve in time, just like Minecraft. It's a whole different thing to make an application than a game on the computer but yeah, it would be cool.

There's no way a phone could have the processing power necessary to run Don't Starve.

Maybe now but think about that stuff again in a year or more/less. Technology only goes forward and never stops moving. Everyday something new appears in the world of technology.Ā

Minecraft PE doesn't has the same items and features, because the Mojang team didn't want to. They wanted to make it different. They said: "Different platforms, different gameplay".

You probably could dumb down the game a lot and port it to a new platform, but we'd probably end up disappointed. They could, but it's not going to happen.

Ok, this is going to be the post to end all arguments. First of all, minecraft PE's infinite worlds works because as you travel is flushes the chunk completely from it's memory, but just remembers numbers as what id the blocks were. The phone could not handle DS, as it is a much larger game than minecraft, even with it's infinite worlds. DS also has much better graphics, and much more content. Sure it's not 3D, but if our phones get warm from the games already on there, DS would make it melt into our hands.

Sorry, but it's officially coming out for Playstation Vita.. There are quite a few phones out there currently that blow the Vita out of the water. The hardware is there, the problem is coding for a different platform. Only time will tell, but I think it will be sooner rather than later. Just my two pennies.

They should focus on the PC version, in my opinion.

Why? More devices supported = Larger audience = More income = Better support = Better, faster, stronger updates..

I know you feel that the game will get dumbed down because of having to shoehorn in a game designed for PC's into different packages, but even if they have to alter the control scheme for various devices it doesn't mean they have to change the PC version.

More devices = More work = More time producing = More bugs = More mad people = Less income.

You couldn't be more wrong. Don't Starve has just been released on ios which runs great on my ipad mini 2 which has LESS processing power then an iphone 6 and the iphone 5s. There is more then enough processing power for Don't Starve to run on a phone.
