Sogaple
As many Mark Of The Ninja players know, the powers our ninja uses (Frezing Time, Farsight, Mark Of Serenity), is because of the weird toxic inc, that was used to make his tatoos. But why tatoos? I know they are cool and ''flashy'' but why not magic stones, or something else? I have nothing against tatoos, i just wonder why exactly them? hotmatrixx
Also, the idea I believe is the permanence of them are a core part of the storyline. As explaining my reasoning reveals the endgame and this may ruin the experience for some, the rest of this comment is in the spoiler. I just realised I can do a spoiler friendly option:A toxin in the ink gives you powersInk is permanent, and so getting the tattoos makes you a special, and a cursed warrior. If it was a Gem or something then you could reason that you could get rid of them to cure yourself of your 'curse' Besides, magic gems and crystals are tacky in the context of this game, and in my opinion, real life. Bring the flame, I'm happy to ignore you. And the slightly more complete version, with spoilers:A toxin in the ink gives you powers, but it also slowly drives you insane, where you to see apparitions (hallucinations in the form of your aid, the girl (I can't remember her name, it's a while since I played... Ori?)) and right and wrong get confusing. Specifically at the end, where you don't know whether to commit suicide or kill the Sensei. Ink is permanent, and so getting the tattoos makes you both a special, and a cursed warrior who accepts his ultimate fate. (this is hinted at in one of the early cut-scenes, 2nd or 3rd one, after you save the Sensei I think).
Palpetinus
It was about giving his life, both body and spirit, to accept the powers while knowing the great risk that comes with it.What better way is there than sprinkling that magic stuff right into your flesh, making it part of your body?
