I'm doing the same, except actually trying to hatch them even though it takes 10000 seeds to feed them with.

I tried that out, it was pretty cool but it got very annoying at times with spiders constantly dropping easter eggs and my game sometimes crashing when i try to open the eggs.

I caught a rabbit and but him in a walled off area that has eggs inside it.

A good way to get eggs is

1. Get a pan flute (Or the book "sleepytime stories" when playing as Wickerbottom) or any other item that forces sleep.

2. Wait until winter 

3. Wait for pengulls to spawn

4. When pengulls lay eggs, use your item that forces sleep

5. collect eggs!

This way is probably a waste of a pan flute, and there are probably much better ways to get eggs...

But happy Easter!
