Strangerdanger101
Do you prefer to eat meaty stew, meatballs, or just eat jerky without putting it in a crock pot? (Assuming you use Jerky)
Deacon_Blue
Depends on the character and situation, at least between Stew and Jerky. I never eat meatballs because honey ham and bacon and eggs are just so much better to make.

Maximum124
Wow, I actually tend to forget that drying racks are a thing in the game..... Meaty stew is nice when you can get it, or if you're low on hunger and health. But meatballs tend to win out over it because they're a bit cheaper to make and still fill a considerable amount of hunger.
JadedMeiji
I turn all meats to Jerky first, then usually do stew to get rid of monster meat, but I like Jerky better overall cuz in caves it last longer and helps a little with sanity so longer stays are more manageable for me (previous cases I didn't find fields of green mushrooms like my newest cave)
23rd
Meatballs are an early game thing, requiring a very small amount of meat and filling a substantial amount of hunger. That's just it though, it only helps you out with hunger. By the time you have reliable sources of food, it's outclassed by so many other things that are available to you. There's is one food, however, that reigns supreme. A food you have not listed, that every intrepid survivor would be wise to know of. Yes, that's right. You know exactly what I'm talking about. Seriously though, Bacon & Eggs is top tier.

emerphish
Jerky is king. Long spoil time, and it keeps you full on all 3 stats. If I want only to heal, I'll just grab a stack of honey(120 health)
Zalyn
I never make meaty stew because it's less efficient and often is wasted on small stomachs. Maybe if I were on Wolfgang, I would consider it for a quick powerup. But I don't rely on large meats regularly. Meatballs are great for quick food; jerky is good to make if you have a surplus of meat and time. Meatballs: I usually only make them in the early game or if I have a pile of berries and monster meat I'm trying to get rid of. As was mentioned above, having eggs or honey lets you make more interesting things (pierogis, bacon and eggs, honey nuggets, and honey ham) that are either more healing or more filling. Jerky: I love using drying racks. If I happen across a large meat, I rack it immediately. I also will pick up 15-20 frog legs in a day from a good cluster of ponds and build a few extra racks to dry them out. Unless I'm starving or low on health, meats always go to dry first, then to the crock pot.
Strangerdanger101
I'm adding Bacon and Eggs to the title, (IF I COULD, , just pretend it says bacon and eggs too) feel free to edit your posts to consider bacon and eggs.
Parrotoss
I used to be a big jerky fan when winter was actually a threat, but now that jerky is ruined by rain and time on the rack, I usually just make meatballs and honey hams, especially when playing as Wigfrid. The hunger points of Meaty Stew is wasted on Wigfrid and I'd rather eat the bird if it is a bother to feed. Monster meat with Wigfrid is nothing anyway and a bit can be in recipes. Although, on any other character, meatballs and honey hams continue to be the main meals, with a bit of bacon n' egg on the side when monster meat is too much to handle...pretty basic. Meaty stew and jerky just seem a tad bit out there.
Flare2V
Is this really a discussion?Meaty stew is the best for hunger, no doubt about it. Feeds well into koalephants and hound attacks, which should be your early game.Jerky is fine for sanity when flowers and clothes can't be accessed, the health and low spoil is a nice perk too. It's like a worse version of honey.Meatballs are only useful when it's one monster meat and three fillers, so when honey/stew isn't available. Light's Out being the perfect application. Thread's over, you can all go home now.

Flare2V
Jerky heals and feeds several times more than honey.Jerky is just meat with time, cooked meat has the same hunger value, just lacks 17 health and 15 sanity. Honey is self-replenishing, has 12.5 more hunger value per structure (four honey), double the spoil time, stacks twice as high and can be cooked into a number of foods with meat that are vastly superior to jerky.Love :^)

Where're your numbers from, anyway?), not to mention already having the meat before drying and the time it takes to obtain it, as well as hang to dry and harvest the jerky.#teamrunonsentances#teamcan'tspellsentences#teamapostrophesinhashtags#TEAMHONEY

Each of mine produces like 12-16 honey a day, and I have 11. Which 12x11=enough. Plus you have to kill something for jerky. Put honey in a crock pot, make taffy, get sanity. Eat honey, you get 3 health. Carry honey, befriend rabbits. #teamhoney

On one hand, jerky is very useful, On the other, Honey can be used to make pretty cool stuff. But i prefer jerky for one reason: Bee boxes attack you in spring. (The bees FROM the boxes i mean) So you can't exactly build it in your base, and if i build it far from mine i usually forget the boxes even exist until i accidently find it. You also can't eat honey as Wigfrid.(Debatable, due to crock pot recipes being able to use honey) A lot of this i'm saying is invalid for non-RoG owners due to spring not existing. I usually just find like 3 beehives next to each other in a small area and a few flowers (sometimes a evil flower) and that's it. But i'll try it if i can find a beehive. DeadpanQuinkan
Jerky is my favorite. A few racks give larger quantities of meat a longer shelf life as well as improving their stat refill amounts. Meaty Stew is not efficient for most characters, but still good to make if you use some spoiling meat and when your character is starving. There is a million and one ways to make meatballs. Meatballs are solid yet not special. And for honey, I primarily use them for poultice. Eating it straight is the last thing I would do given most scenarios. aredshroom
Meatballs for early game or emergencies, Meaty Stew only if I have spoiling surplus of meat. Out of these three, I'd pick Jerky because of its stat regain and long spoiling time.
MaestarLibrarian
I choose Jerky, mainly because I play wickerbottom and I really like the sanity gain. Also with the new insulation pack, carrying jerky is godlike now. I usually carry two honey ham pieces and about 7 jerky when I go to the ruins and such. Provides me with enough food for a couple of days. When I come back a new stack of jerky is waiting :
