SHANK 1 PC missing cut scenes?

Hi Klei support,

The intro cut scenes in my PC version of Shank which I  bought from steam yesterday is missing a number of scenes. The girl or how Shank takes down the bar men are not even shown in the intro cut scenes of my PC version of Shank.

What is the meaning of this?? I am very upset by this as I expected to buy a game that was similar to other versions of shank that had complete cut scenes. Please help me with this issue.

Thank you.

So at the beginning of the game, you are not getting the cut-scene of Shank walking into the bar, and the bartender telling them to attack?

Or are you referring to the Steam version having the edited cut-scenes?

Hi Wade,

Yes i'm referring to the current Steam version with the edited scenes.

I would greatly appreciate if my steam version of Shank had all the uncut content of the original.

What is being done about this? The edits in my opinion had broken and left gaps in the visual telling of the story.

We've actually already got the programmers looking into how complicated it would be to offer player's their choice of which cut-scenes they want in the game. It will likely require setting the game to a separate Beta branch before starting up the game.

Unfortunately it will likely be several weeks before we would have the fix available.

We've now made the original version of Shank available on Steam.

If you go into the Properties for the game in your library, under the "Betas" tab, you will be able to change your version to "Classic" which will be the original version of the game and its cut-scenes.

Hi,

thanks for adding the missing cutscenes back into the game. The actually-quite-good-in-a-Rodriguez-kind-of-way revenge story made no sense with the new cutscenes, so it's nice to get the old ones back.

Sadly, the new Beta doesn't run for me. When starting Shank [classic], the game throws a "Fatal Error: Steam API must be running." message before killing Steam entirely.

Neither Shank nor Steam can be closed at this point; killing the processes through Task Manager doesn't work either, only rebooting the system helps to get Steam running again.

Just tested the edited/cut of Shank, runs fine.

Please have a look into this error, I'd love to replay Shank in its original cut.

Strange.

I assume you actually have Steam running at the time and are trying to launch it from your library?

Can you try uninstalling the game, then deleting any remaining files on your drive, and then re-installing?

It sounds like a Steam app issue, but this may help...

Thanks for the quick reply!

Yes, I started the game from my Steam library.
Verifying game cache, uninstalling, manually deleting all files and re-downloading didn't help, Shank [classic] still crashes Steam, while the edited version runs perfectly fine.

I guess it may be an issue with my desktop PC setup since I also tested both versions on my Lenovo T400 laptop, and both run fine there.

Quick desktop specs:

Mainboard: Asus M4A87TD

Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 245 (2.9 GHz)

Memory: 6GB G-Skill DDR3

GPU: ATI Radeon 5700 (1GB)

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64bit  (same as on my Laptop)

Hope this helps.
