How To Transfer Standalone Saves to Steam (and vice versa)

We often get asked if it's possible to move or transfer Mark of the Ninja saved files from Standalone (Humble Indie Bundle) to Steam and vice versa. It is possible to do; you'll just have to follow these next few steps:

 

Transferring Standalone Saves to Steam:

• Go to your Mark of the Ninja Standalone folder (usually found in the documents folder -documents/Klei/Ninja/users/savegame.sav) and copy the "savegame.sav" file.
   
• Then go your Steam folders (Steam Folder/userdata/<userid>/214560/remote/users) and paste "savegame.sav" in your users folder.
   
• After copying the "savegame.sav" file across from Standalone to Steam, close all windows and start the game on Steam. If done correctly your Steam version should load your saved progress from Standalone. 

Transferring Steam Saves to Standalone:

• Go to your Steam Mark of the Ninja folders located in (Steam Folder/userdata/<userid>/214560/remote/users) and copy the "savegame.sav" file.
   
• Next, locate your Mark of the Ninja Standalone folder (usually found in the documents folder - documents/Klei/Ninja/users/) and paste the "savegame.sav" file into your users folder.
   
• After copying "savegame.sav" file to your Standalone folder, close all windows and start the Standalone version of Mark of the Ninja. You should be able to  continue your Steam save on the Standalone if the transfer process was completed.
