So first of all we (most of us) already know that Mandrake if produce into Mandrake Soup become the best food ever in Don't Starve. But sometime even after many restarts a new map Mandrake still hard to find, even not exist in the map.

So can you guys make a "Mandrake Farm/Hut" or whatever will you guys name it, a very special object that only produce Mandrake ?

One of the ingredients is the Mandrake itself so the Player still need to find it (which is still make the game hard)

Pleaseeeeeee

Mandrakes will be reneweable as long as the cave regeneration option is available.

Id recommend heading to the mods section for this, it seems a good suggestion

with only two updates left don't get your hopes up for vanilla implementation

 Okay thank you Craig_Perry

Full health/sanity/belly + 1 day to the counter isn't supposed to be easy to get.

That is why i said you need to find the mandrake first. And i have an idea how about the Mandrake Hut/Farm need 5 day to produce or the Mandrake Hut/Farm need be feeded

I'm sorry, I'm looking for some clarification.

My understanding was that the number of Mandrakes that spawned at the start of the game was "it". There was no way to respawn new ones.

So how does this work exactly? They respawn as long as there are caves? how often? how does this work?

Thanks...

First of, thanks for necro-ing that topic up...

Second of, mandrakes do not respawn, and "cave regeneration" was a thing a while ago...

Hey, DevilXD. I'm sorry about the necromancy.

So I'm new to the game (about 40 hours in, day 150 for the first time). I was looking under suggestions to see if there were any threads that had addressed my question, before creating a new one - as is standard practice in a forum (not rehashing stuff that's been addressed - that's what old posts are for, to save the same discussion from being brought up over and over as new topics). - This is not a snyde remark, please don't misinterpret - is this not the "done thing" here - was I better off creating a new thread vs reopening an old one?

This discussion is about respawnable Mandrakes, and it's last comment is that they exist... if Cave Regeneration is on. I am obviously new, and I didn't know what this CR thing was, and can't find any info on it, I was also really excited to see that my favourite mob in the game can be made a renewable resource. This thread seems to suggest that is is possible. So, the important part of this post is this question:are you saying that this Cave Regeneration thing is a mechanic that is no longer a thing/has been removed from the game? If so, then I will create a new thread with my own suggestions. Thanks ;)

Upon reflection, considering how amazing their uses are, I'm not surprised at how limited a resource they are. I guess I just have a hard time with thinking of any resources in the game being finite, actually - I'm not happy about Gears being another rare/finite one, for instance. (I understand they are renewable in RoG now, but RoG is DLC ie not everyone has it). Maybe I need to rethink this; finite = game mechanic rather than an injustice.

I agree with with that, reopening an old topic is "rather better" than creating a new one, but if it's like a month old or so... Half of the year old topic is rather closed, so I've said about necroing...

The Cave Generation existed in beta testing state, when "caves" actually appeared in the game - if you died in them, or for another reasons (like bug or glitch... In the end, that CR option existed for a reason...), you could just Regenerate Cave and play again... That "feature" disappeared as soon as they finished them up, there was no reason to keep such as OP functionality (because renewable Mandrakes, Gears and that kind of stuff)...

They are limited, so you have to use the wisely... Or just set them in world generation options to 'more' or 'lots', and then you can actually enjoy your "Mandrake Army" The same you can do for gears, but be careful - setting clockwork monsters to 'more' or lots', may have catastrophic effect (you will DIE (fast) ! ;) )

If you don't want to generate new world to have gears on mandrakes - consider using some mods (like my Equivalent Exchange v2 ;) I will be updating it soon ^^ Link: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/files/file/534-equivalent-exchange-v2-rog-compatible/ )

As stated above...

Oh, that's yours?

I haven't got it, but it's a very good idea. I was tempted to grab it just to see what it does, I just wanted to play through with as-close-to-vanilla as possible. I only really have a few small non game-changing mods, such as Statusplus (more accurate representation of health, etc) which is configurable so that you can see your body temp. Which I think is a valid addition.

Please can we talk modding, I'd prefer via headset, or in another thread, or via PM - and so we don't poach this thread. I'd like to get into it, but the entry level floor seems a bit daunting right at the moment.

Thank you for making all these things clear. Your reply was very well don, btw. Concise, Complete, and Clear.

Props +Rep to you. :juggling:
