Error during initialization

When I try to open Don't Starve through Steam it opens a black window and an error pops up saying 'Error during initialization', when I click 'ok' it closes.

I should probably mention that I've been having trouble with the rest of my steam games as well. Whenever I try to open one it does the same thing as Don't Starve but with a different error message.

Steps to Reproduce
All I tried to do is open Don't Starve.

Hello @ItsAce, welcome to the forums.

I recommend the methods found in this Klei Support Article: Error During Initialization. See if any of those methods work for you. Also if all other games are also affected, you should try and check whether your steam is updated to the latest version. To update, click Steam tab on the top left corner of Steam and a drop box will appear, then click Check for Steam Client updates... and Check for Video Driver updates...
